Angela Lansbury (badly) lipsincs The Worst Pies in London at the original Tony award telecast. Sweeney Todd is a musical written by Stephen Sondheim. This clip is from Broadway's Lost Treasures. No copyright infringement is meant, and if the owners of the video would like it removed, all they have to do is ask!

Company 2007 Tony Performance: Being Alive

Raúl Esparza sings "Being Alive" from the John Doyle directed revival of Stephen Sondheim's Company. I personally felt that he gave a fantastic performance of one of my all time favorite songs. I would like to see the revival very much.

Spring Awakening 2007 Tony Performance

The cast of the Duncan Sheik/Steven Sater musical Spring Awakening peform "Mama Who Bore Me", "The Bitch of Living" and "Totally Fucked" at the 2007 tony awards. Be warned, since it was aired on public television, "Totally Fucked" has some obvious edits. Too bad.
Grey Gardens 2007 Tony Performance

Christine Ebersole sings "The Revolutionary Costume for Today" from the Scott Frankel/Michael Korie musical Grey Gardens, based on the 1975 documentary of the same name. She won a Tony for this performance, and watching this, I believe she deserved it.
Raul is one of the most talented and amazing people on stage ever. He deserves all the awards.
Love this! His version is my favorite, except for the lines from the other characters. I love that this version omits them.
1:51 Mock me with praise!
It's the first time I watch this. I watched the documentary and the movie with Drew Barrymore. This is incredible. The way she talks, the detail on her voice, the mannerism, without being noisy or exaggerated, as you have to be in theatre sometimes. I wonder which theatre had this show in Broadway, because it has a "small venue" energy. But still, she manage to keep a huge audience fascinated. I'm very very impressed.
Imagine if he was the host for the Tony’s that night, what a way to introduce the host 🤭
Fantastic ‼️
I've always loved this song. What a wonderful powerful performance!! We all deserve to experience true love and to allow ourselves to "be alive"!! Even though Stephen Sondheim is no longer with us, he left us all his beautiful works. The song has to be one of his best!!
Wow. What a performance.
Shes to low end NY accent ... Edie was much more sophisticated
A mean, nasty Republican Town! That is Indianapolis!
i dont understand why they didnt do side by side bc thats so much coolerrrr bc of the whole cast doing the instrumental andstuff :(
I liked her “Don’t Rain on My Parade” this year (2023) in Funny Girl…but otherwise… am I taking crazy pills or is LM’s voice not that great here?? I obv don’t like her as a person, and I will say that her chest voice sounds amazing. I also don’t blame her for her technique here bc she was like 16 and at the mercy of the trends at that time. But her mixed voice sounds shrill, too nasal, squeaky, lots of little baby-ish cries, THIN, weakly supported, baby-ish? Why was the 90s-2000s white musical theater style mezzo/soprano vocal style like this?? The instant they cut to the reprise you can so clearly hear Lilli Cooper bc she’s the only one who sounds ROUNDED and supported. No I don’t want white women to try and “sound black” or w/e but look back at at Barbra, Chita, Julie-more rounded resonance, not forcing mixing so much, better pitch. Watch LM’s rain on my parade on Glee vs Broadway and you’ll see what I mean…
What is she saying?
I still can't believe he did't win. Such a shame.
I GO THeRe
Everybody say it with me: HE WAS ROBBED
It's the Law and Order guy!
God, would I love to see this.
ONE OF THE BEST PLAYS AND PERFORMANCE IN THEATER HISTORY !! 🎥
Saw in person ...one of the best ever..🕊🇺🇲💕
1:08 If I close my eyes it sounds like that’s really little Edie talking. Christine nailed the Long Island NY accent
oh how I wish the beales could've seen this before they passed, they would've LOVED it... however I have a feeling they would've complained there wasn't enough singing or "soft shoe" dancing 🤍
While Raúl is still obviously in character, he just looks so happy up there and has a face that’s like, “yea… I know I’m the shit.” Not like arrogant or anything, just him knowing that he kicks ass and loving every second of it.
Love this performance
such a incredible song! what a performance!
although i love christine and think she did a good job, she doesn’t have little edie’s gams.
Nobody sings it with heart like he does, He is the best singing for this song I should say heart and conviction
Beautiful
Joel Grey perfected one way to play the Emcee (two if you count his tamed down performance on 'The Muppets') both on stage and on screen, so Alan Cumming perfected another way to play the Emcee, likewise on stage (several times) and on screen (if you count the live filmed London performance though I don't know if that was ever released at the cinemas).
Ugh musical theater
Wow she sounds just like Little Edie and kind of looks like too.
What a dynamo!
La plus belle des interprétations, juste ce qu'il faut...bravo!
And this didn’t win?
OK this is my school but I don’t born on 2012 ? I born on 2013
Tough audience, saw it 3 times live, the audience never stopped applauding! Da da da da da!😉😂
RIP Angela Lansbury, 96
Beautiful and sad. Unrequited love 💘
I'm sorry...Never knew about this musical..until jinks monsoon introduced little Eddie... Now I am a fan of this musical..
ROBBED OF A TONY.
omg he’s so fucking good
Came back to watch this amazing performance after this year's Tonys. He should've won. Also how did the audience not jump to its feet after this?
I still Stan her
Hey, new to the musical community, but when I saw this performance on the 2006 documented musical, it moved me to tears, I loved this musical number next to The Ladies Who Lunch. Now looking it up to revisit it and coming across this, I began to cry from how beautiful it was, Raul really put his heart and soul into performing this song, god bless this.
I don't care what anyone says. This was very disrespectful to a story of shattered dreams and untreated mental illness.
Raul throbs with passion on this song, like nobody else. It's exciting and wonderful. Peerless, actually.
Raul owns and lives every depth of sentiment of every word of Sondheim’s desperate existential cry for meaning in life ! Perfectly executed with such unnerving surrender to reflect the absurd albeit necessary need for attachment that is the essence of the human condition. The Genius Sondheim !
Great voice but the very definition of OVERSINGING.
he is amazing
❤️
